All settled in!

Finally I had a little time to myself today to sort out my bedroom and organize everything! I have been so busy! Between orientation and socializing I am feeling a bit drained! When I walked into my flat I was greeted by a rowdy group of boys cleaning potato off of the floor and door- in their underwear! Let me tell you, it was slightly comforting- typical college students. I have come to find out that these boys lived on my flat, ha and they remind me of my friends from back home. My first day here we met up with the group and had a tour of upper Bangor which is where our university is... Bangor, Wales is a city in a valley so our university is sitting right on the top of a hill. This location makes it extremely beautiful for seeing the sights (I can see the mountains right out my window) it is quite the hike up to get back to our rooms from the high streets (main drag). After our tour we got the experience of eating in a brand new pub, only open for about six weeks, its name was club uno. I had a spiced lamb burger and it was delicious! When I came home that night the boys on my floor decided that it was necessary for them to make me out even though I was pooped! So...not being able to resist the English accent I was peer pressured into going to my first pub. I had a lot of fun and it was a great way to start off the trip. The next day we had a short orientation which lead to a tour of lower Bangor where their high street is. This is the main shopping area in Bangor and it is not too far from our residence hall. Probably only about a 10 min. walk. We shopped around for some different things we needed for our rooms. After this fun filled day of shopping, I was quite exhausted. I came back took a short nap and then went to the pubs once again. In Wales going to the pubs is a very social event that is looked highly upon in their society. We went to a pub named Patrick's, Rascals, and then to a dance club. It was a lot of fun!
It is a very odd feeling being the foreigner, its pretty much unable to describe. I never understood what our foreign exchange students felt like, but that is changing rapidly. I love the atmosphere of Bangor University and am having a great time. I am learning a bunch of new words as are the students over here. We all have so much to talk about and learn from each other.
Oh... after the pubs last night we went to the pizzeria and I had pizza with sweet corn on it and surprisingly--it was delicious :) Tonight we just stayed in and all cooked dinner together and played games. It was for casted to to be extremely windy so we played it cool tonight. Tomorrow we have a free day- no more orientation :) So... we are going to do a bit of shopping! well... I best be going!
